Here's a list of places that don't mind us coming in to shop. We wanted to make
sure that no one would be embarassed, so we've checked them out personally and found them to be very cooperative. We made sure they know that we have special needs. If they weren't polite and courteous, we didn't include them. If you call or go, be sure to tell them you saw them listed here. |
SHOE STYLES
7739 Northcross Drive, Suite F
Austin, Texas
Dan and Sarah Fleschman own and operate this shoe shop which caters to girls looking for larger sizes. In fact, you won't find anything under a 9 and 1/2 here. They are very nice folks and VERY understanding. When I stopped in, the first thing Dan told me was that he was listed in the Yahoo Search database and then he showed me a really nice black 5" stiletto in a size 13! (I almost felt bad about telling him I wear an 8 and 1/2.)
TABU LINGERIE
9070 Research Boulevard
Austin, TX
Tabu, in the Crossroads Shopping plaza next to the book store, has all kinds of nice underthings. Provided you're discreet (i.e. there are no other customers) you can try on any of the bustiers, slips, nighties, and other lacy things.

THE BAZAAR
9070 Research Boulevard
Austin, TX
452-2400
Also in the Crossroads Shopping plaza right next to Tabu Lingerie you'll find this nifty shop with some very elegant and often cute styles. The owner,a British lady, is quite open to having you come in, shop around, and try on anything you like; however, most of her sizes don't go higher than 12, so most of us won't find anything to fit.
1605 East Riverside Drive
Austin, TX
I really love this place, but most of the stuff is wayyyy outta my price range. They have some great dresses, tops, skirts, a wide variety of hosiery, and a lot of other things like jewelry and boas. And you're welcome to come in and shop en femme as long as you don't make a spectacle (despite the fact that some the salesgirls might have purple hair.) You won't find a lot of large sizes, but the staff is more than willing to help "girls" like us.
Personnel changes often bring about changes in attitudes and we'd like to know if you encounter any problems at any of these businesses.
